Mia - Giving children with cerebral palsy a unique experience
Propelled like a balance bike, the user pushes themselves along. This trike has an adjustable axle allowing the front wheels to be moved closer together so that it requires more balance as the child progresses and gets stronger and more confident.
It has a memory steel pivot which safely snaps back into place, taking into account the gait of each individual user.
The handlebar can be moved forward and back. The grips are adjustable enabling them to be fixed to the required angle for each child, with a strap for those who have difficulty in grasping the handles with their fingers. It is predominantly made from plywood, making it light and affordable and as it can be split in two, easily stored.
It aims to improve balance, and enhance muscle tone and co-ordination, so children with other disabilities may well benefit from riding the trike.

Importantly, it promotes social interaction, giving children the opportunity to ride and have fun with their peers.

And their peers will want to have a go too.
